The MiniWatt project continues
The MiniWatt project is continuing apace. Several projects are being carried out by the site teams to achieve our energy reduction target.
To date, the reduction in consumption at Group level for electricity and gas combined is almost 7% by the end of June 2023. We still have 4 months to go to achieve the -10% target set for this year.
The deployment of actions is progressing on the different themes undertaken since the launch of the MiniWatt approach:
For the LED part, €90,000 has been invested over the quarter at all sites, with the aim of completing this aspect by the end of September. The TDM, IVA and STSM sites have already begun installation.
There’s more news on the IVA site:
On the machine side, the new compressors installed at Vibraye and Dollon in early July are already delivering the expected benefits, with a reduction of around 16% in dedicated electricity consumption. IVA’s process lines will be re-insulated in September. This 100% subsidised service will deliver immediate energy savings.
As regards improvements to our heating systems, a substantial budget has been approved for a complete overhaul of the system at the Vibraye and Dollon sites, with latest-generation condensing gas unit heaters and an associated destratification system. Subsidies have been secured to support this investment. With a view to reducing carbon emissions, gas will replace fuel oil at Dollon and the Vibraye offices will now be heated by a heat pump.
At the other subsidiaries, several sites are considering, or have already invested in, new sectional doors or associated forklift doors to reduce our heating consumption next winter.
To take the approach a step further, energy audits are being launched at AIMM, OTIMA Industries and METASEVAL in partnership with BPI France and specialist firms. These will enable us to come up with new ideas for improvements at our sites.
Finally, feasibility studies dedicated to photovoltaic and solar thermal energy are being carried out at Group level for all our sites. The aim is to define a roadmap for the coming years.
