Shot blasting

An effective approach to

metal treatment

Several of our sites use shot blasting to prepare parts for painting. This technique consists of projecting steel, stainless steel, glass or ceramic microbeads onto the surface of a metal part to clean it thoroughly. This surface treatment will improve the appearance and technical characteristics of the object.  Shot peening can also be used to improve the technical qualities of the treated surfaces, this is called shot peening.

  • 13 shot-blasting machines
  • 1,5M€ turnover for shot blasting

Within the Groupe AIM, we use two blasting processes:

  • Pneumatic blasting: the shot is mixed with compressed air and sprayed through a hose, the end of which is attached to a nozzle. The operation can be automatic or manual.
  • Mechanical blasting in a turbine blasting machine, where centrifugal force is used to throw the shot and form a curtain that treats the parts.

A treatment that improves parts

With shot peening, the part is matted, resulting in plastic deformation of the surface to make it more resistant to mechanical stress. This technique increases the life of the material by strengthening its endurance to mechanical stress and reducing corrosion phenomena.

This solution makes it possible to make metal parts more efficient and less costly. Our facilities allow us to meet a wide variety of customer needs. We are able to process small parts, to large assemblies thanks to the multitude of processes present in our machine park.

We offer our customers different shot types to treat all types of parts, but combined with different intensities. We suit our blasting media and processes to the needs of our customers:

  • Tribofiniton (deburring of parts)
  • Shot Peening (pre-stressing)
  • Surface preparation shot blasting
  • Manual shot blasting
  • Automatic nozzle blast machine
  • Automatic turbine shot blasting machine
