At a time of energy and environmental concerns, along with the increase in the price of traditional fuels, hydrogen technology offers a real development opportunity. Indeed, this new technology promises clean and renewable energy, and paves the way for new, cleaner mobility with greater energy autonomy.

What is a hydrogen engine?

It is an engine that uses hydrogen as a fuel. The effect of a reaction between dihydrogen and dioxygen in the fuel cell produces water and releases electrical energy. This solution is used to propel the vehicle, in conjunction with a battery. By way of comparison, burning a kilogram of dihydrogen produces three times more energy than a kilogram of petrol. It is worth noting that a hydrogen vehicle does not release CO2 or nitrogen when in use.

After supporting our automotive clients in the development of electric and hybrid cars, we are delighted to work alongside them to develop this promising new technology, which is soon to arrive on the automobile market. Hydrogen technology is still in its infancy and is mainly used in trucks and trains. Now, it is also being developed for light vehicles.

Among the range of future engine solutions that we are working on, hydrogen is one of the most interesting. At this stage, we have started to produce components in small volumes, but we are confident that this new form of mobility will progress.
