End clap for the Elite project
End clap for the Elite project, and success for the AIMB and AIMI teams!
In 2018, AIMB decided to launch a Lean Transformation programme to ensure that operational results are commensurate with energy investments and team efforts. This marked the beginning of our collaboration with the EliteOrga company. The first stage was an operational diagnosis and interviews with staff, following which the three-year progress plan was validated.
During the course of these three years the various projects were handled by the AIMB teams, but with the benefit of coaching from EliteOrga in a number of domains:
- Quality: structuration of the management of internal non-conformities, individual improvement projects specific to the different production units (painting, bending, cutting) and implementation of problem-solving rituals to handle problems where they arise (Dantotsu level 1).
- Productivity: projects for the bending and cutting sectors and the “Takt” assembly line, in order to eliminate waste and thus increase productivity.
- Organization: structuration of Visual Performance Management (VPM) at every level (MVP3 –MVP2 –MVP1) to unify the teams, structure communication, and deal with issues on a daily basis.
- Health and Safety: to implement daily hazard hunt routines (safety shift), 5S implementation, and various actions within the different production units to improve working conditions.
- Logistics: physical reorganization of the units, with, notably, the relocation of the sheet metal shed during the summer of 2021, but also the reorganization of planning and scheduling activities.
- Training: so as to meet production standards, but also train in Lean methodology so that each person can understand, speak the same language and share the same vision (White Belt training).
After three years of committed cooperation, and thanks to the efforts and dedication of all:
- The costs of internal non-quality have fallen by 40%
- Client non-conformities have been cut in half
- The factory has been noticeably de-cluttered
- The productivity of the different sectors has increased
- 100% of AIMB staff has had training and validated a White Belt course.
This large-scale three-year project has come to its conclusion. Henceforth, the AIMB and AIMI teams have all the competencies they need to pursue our Lean continuous improvement programme.
