In order to support its clients’ progress and strengthen its position in the STT market, AIMB has embarked on a long-term project to renew the layout of its sheet metal workshop.
The goal is to imagine a set-up that:
- Integrates new means of production
- Optimises flows
- Establishes a safety culture at all levels
With the help of ELITE ORGANISATION, a multidisciplinary work group has been created.
Apply a LEAN approach
An initial analysis phase (SDA, 9G, VSM, Spaghetti diagram) made it possible to evaluate the existing location.
A decision-making framework was then established to choose the best possible layout.
These different work sessions sought the opinion of the production, logistics, industrialisation, and quality teams … and were validated by the pilot committee.
Prepare for the future today
The new layout began this summer for the bending/welding cells.
For three weeks, a ‘Summer 2021 Works’ team carried out the first phase of the project.
This team was particularly motivated and flexible and has been able to adapt and bring out the qualities in each individual to meet the deadline.
Group experience
Based on AIMM’s experience, AIMB achieved welding booths that treat welding fumes and reduce noise pollution.
